Today is August 4th, the anniversary of the battle of Evesham. The most detailed account of it can be found in the Chronicle of Melrose Abbey, which also includes anecdotes about Simon de Montfort like his severed foot being encased in silver and his paranoia around the captive Edward. To mark the anniversary, the chronicle has been restored and republished by Handshake Press as volume 6 of its series of medieval chronicles with a discount on both the hardcover and ebook version.
