…and a check around Montfort websites indicates very little activity recalling the 749th anniversary of that eventful day. The Battlefields Trust is offering free tours of Landport Bottom on 17 and 18 May, while the Sussex Archaeological Society will be sweeping the area for evidence of the battle (good luck there – see the comment under Contact). Nothing else on the homepage of either site, and the Simon de Montfort Society… well, that’s Evesham. No need to mention anything happening on the government, university or parliamentary front.
